That is a Wrap! Goodbye 2024 | A Year in Review

And with that, the 2024 season comes to an end.

2024 was a year full of surprises, hopes, dreams. and lots and lots of memories. I remember at the beginning of the year making a list of goals and a vision/prayer board to be propped up were I can see it all year. then I blinked and here we are.

a year in the past, one in the future.

But we aren't going to be looking into 2025 yet, that will be the next post, today we are going to be looking at my 2024 highlights!

Karate

  • I went to six tournaments this year and learned so much, I learned not to fear going into the ring everyone has to abide by the same rules as you. I learned how to deal with injuries that were unexpected and ones that took quite a while to heal up.

  • I placed three firsts, and many seconds and thirds < 3 I am so proud of myself for persevering through the tournament season and even spar the person that dislocated my jaw again. anything is possible with God.

  • I met many wonderful people (most of whom I competed against) we laughed and encouraged one another.

  • I went to class three times a week and was able to do all the splits (right, left, middle) and an over split!

  • and the biggest thing that happened was on Dec 27 2024 I tested for my black belt screams I still can't believe that it is real that I am actually wearing a BLACK BELT now. for the test I got to throw/take down my brother, spar my dad (I got him good once XD) and did a speed break on a board (along with many other board breaks, and breaking bricks)

  • LIFE

  • We went to the zoo in March and it was so cool! there were tones of big cats, snakes and even a hippo! though I must admit the big cat exbibits were my favorite.

  • We visited my uncle in Pennsylvania a few times and each time was SO much fun. I adore going to see him, giving him a hug <3 but on one of the trips we got to see Niagara Falls! it was so pretty! though I did think it would be bigger... I even got splashed by it!!

  • I read tones this year! rereading and books I never thought I would read some of my favorites were: Ignite and Shadow by Kara Swanson, the Powerless series by Lauren Roberts, and The black rose collection

  • My dad and I built the COOLEST bookshelf EVER for my room. it takes up my whole wall and holds so many books, the moment it was up I was putting books on it. (you can see a picture of said bookshelf below)

Writing

  • I completed the FIRST draft of Project: Raven and edited it in the beginning of the year then had a few meetings with different Content editors before settling on one and sending my manuscript to her. the feedback was better than I thought, and I dove right into the second draft, and am now in the process of editing the second draft.

  • I posted twenty nine posts on my blog ranging from topics of writing to life. coming to a total of 7,037 words + a gust post

  • I reached a subscriber count of 74 (it isn’t quite the end of the year and I would love if you guys helped me reach my goal of 100 I would be so grateful!) 607 views, 121 likes, 13 comments.

  • I was published in one book Who You Say I Am I was so blessed to be invited to take part of this anthology about placing your identity in Christ

  • I wrote a total of 372,753 words this year

  • over 250,000 of them were edited by me

Thank you so much for readding about my year! please comment some of the highlights of your year!

Rock On,

K. Florence
